Errors during interior planning can lead to additional expenses, prolong the renovation period, or make the setup less comfortable. We explain how to avoid them and what you shouldn't do.

Not Enough Outlets

Only two outlets for the entire kitchen? A working scheme only if you don’t use any household appliances like an electric kettle, coffee maker, or blender.

First, calculate all electrical appliances you'll use regularly: from a kettle to a multicooker. Add outlets for occasional use like a blender or juicer. Also, plan a spot for charging your phone: it might come in handy while cooking, and battery life tends to run low.

Installing a Microwave Oven Near the Window

And especially hanging flowing curtains! This is not only inconvenient but also fire hazardous: synthetic fabrics melt easily when touching hot surfaces.

How to Do It Right

Place another row of cabinets between the microwave oven and the window — the issue will resolve itself. Hang roman or roller blinds on the window instead — it's both practical and stylish.

Ignoring the Projection of the Window Sill

Or radiator. Forgetting about this oversight can mean one of your cabinets, drawers, or even the entire refrigerator won’t open. The door will bump into the sill or radiator. Uncomfortable, right?

How to Do It Right

There are several options: you can make the sill level with the wall, add a false panel as wide as the projection of the window sill or radiator between the wall and cabinet, or reduce the depth of the cabinet itself.
