How to Make Your Home Cozy: 12 Ways You Should Know
Most modern interiors lean toward minimalism and hi-tech: perfectly flat surfaces, neutral tones, minimalist decor. But in creating such perfection, it's easy to forget the main thing – coziness. Without it, even in a flawless interior you will feel uncomfortable. For many centuries the understanding of coziness has not changed: it is associated with warmth, light, cleanliness and comfort. There are many ways to create a cozy atmosphere. We tell you about several of them.
Way #1: Tidy Up
There can be no talk of coziness if chaos and clutter reign in the house. Most often, the cause is things that have no owner and have been waiting for disposal for years. Take a look around, conduct a review, and finally get rid of unnecessary clutter and Pliushkin's syndrome. Don't forget to regularly clean the room. Remember that it is easier to maintain order than to establish it.

Way #2: Make Light Submissive
A cozy atmosphere in the house largely depends on proper lighting. There should be at least two or three light sources to provide several lighting scenarios. Modern lighting fixtures and gadgets greatly simplify the task and make light controllable, functional, and economical. Convenient dimmers, motion sensors, detectors, and special timers help regulate lighting in the room.

Way #3: Use a Warm Palette
In modern city interiors, neutral and metallic tones are increasingly prevailing. But they contain so much cold and little life. Even in a strict color scheme of minimalism or hi-tech, it is always appropriate to add several bright and warm tones: orange, red, yellow, terracotta... With them, the interior becomes much cozier.

Way #4: Use High Technology
In the age of hi-tech, achieving comfort has become much easier. It is enough to have smart home gadgets, which are now quite a few on the market: from small electric drives for blinds and dimmers to entire intelligent systems managing all engineering equipment in the house (lighting, heating, air conditioning), which significantly simplify life and save on energy consumption.

Way #5: Bring Life to the Walls
Bare walls are boring and lonely, even if it's brick masonry in loft style. The best way to bring them to life is to hang family photos, paintings, wall hangings, souvenirs. Especially pleasant and heartfelt atmospheres in the house are created by family photos capturing happy and memorable moments. Depending on the interior style and your ideas, you can hang one large painting or several small images on the wall. The main thing is to avoid the syndrome of too much.

Way #6: Have Green Decor
Green plants and flowers, like by the magic wand, can quickly add a significant degree of coziness to an interior. If you're not strong in floristry, choose low-maintenance plants that require minimal care. When arranging green decor, consider their shape and size. For example, large plants are better not placed on windowsills – they will consume natural light. An excellent and trendy solution is mini-terrariums in stylish glass containers.

Way #7: Add Warm Accessories
To create a cozy atmosphere, many designers recommend decorating the home with warm, soft accessories that are pleasant to touch. It is enough to make two or three accents: this can be a furry Persian rug, a fur-covered cushion, flocking on a chair, or a woolen blanket carelessly thrown over the back of a chair.

Way #8: Arrange Memorabilia
They possess an incomparable atmosphere of nostalgia and tranquility. It is not necessary to surround yourself with expensive antiques. Personal or family relics, commemorative souvenirs, items (favorite books, grandmother's phone, the license plate of the first car) immerse you in pleasant memories, and the feeling of home comfort noticeably intensifies.

Way #9: Upgrade the Heating System
Warmth is one of the main indicators of coziness. It's important to always keep it under control. There are many different devices for this: adjustable radiators, thermostats, energy-saving heating appliances. With their help, you can easily control the intensity of room heating, energy consumption, and monitor air quality in the house.

Way #10: Place a Chair in the Bedroom
Undoubtedly, beds occupy a leading role in the bedroom. But if the room size allows, one or two soft and comfortable chairs can be placed in one of its corners, thus creating a reading nook, a place for intimate conversations and contemplation. With such a lounge area, your bedroom will only gain and become even more comfortable.

Way #11: Drape the Wall
Without curtains and drapes, an interior is like a person in a suit without shoes. Properly chosen textiles make a significant contribution to creating home coziness. But it's not necessary to think that curtains are only suitable for windows and around the bed. Try decorating a wall in the bedroom with them to soften smooth surfaces, add visual interest, and make the interior more relaxed.

Way #12: Light a Fireplace
Since ancient times, fire in the hearth symbolized comfort and well-being at home. Perhaps that's why in modern interiors, fireplaces are so often encountered. They are suitable not only in private cottages and garden houses but also in small apartments. Instead of a real fireplace, electric, gas, or even fake fireplaces look good. If such an accessory does not fit into your interior, a mini-alternative to the fireplace would be romantic compositions of candles.
