Villa Acer by Maxim Kaluzhak in Hintsesti, Moldova
Maxim Kaluzhak designed Villa Acer on a picturesque hill in the city of Hintsesti, Moldova. This single-story cozy residence of just under 1500 square feet is designed for a middle-aged family and surrounded by a private backyard.

The 'Acer' house located on a scenic hill in Hintsesti is an individual project designed for a middle-aged family. The house serves as the axis around which daily life revolves. The building's core consists of a wooden frame supporting a tile foundation. This was done to minimize construction time and offer a simple yet sustainable solution.
The house is divided into two main zones: bedrooms connected by a corridor providing privacy for users; and the active zone of the house: a combination of kitchen, dining room, and living room. Looking outward through glass walls, we experience a dialogue between geometry and landscape. The main focus is on the concrete beam that shapes the view. It becomes more like a painting or a landscape of green and calm nature. From the street, the beam hides the house from unwanted glances. The curve of the beam emphasizes the rectangular lines of the house and adds balance to contrasts. The facades are clad with thermally treated ayous wood, revealing its architectural potential and creating a sense of warmth and comfort.
The minimalist approach is also evident in the interior finish: walls are covered with wooden panels; floors are made of polished concrete; furniture accents add a neutral tone to the interior. All this comes together to create a space that doesn't weigh down everyday life. Since it is a family home, the place for disconnection and relaxation was designed to retain key features of the local environment so that everyone who visits feels connected to roots, earth, and a general sense of calm.
