Curved Standalone House by Phidias Indonesia
The Curved Standalone House is a remarkable modern residence located in Indonesia. This 2,152 square foot home offers numerous spatial solutions that are well-executed and realized. It was designed by Phidias Indonesia, the same studio that created the Bright Well House project in Bekasi.

Located on a corner lot, the house features two facades with an additional facade facing the corner. Overall, this home provides diverse spatial solutions that are well realized both in plan and construction.
In plan, the first floor consists of a living room, dining area, one bedroom, and a compact inner courtyard to maintain natural lighting inside the house. The second floor, which spans over the first, includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms. These rooms have separate access to a small roof on the third floor.
In construction or facade, the corner lot is emphasized by the curve of the second floor, following along the axis of the angle, creating a "standalone" box distinct from the first floor. The second floor features a black box intersecting the lot toward the corner. Each load-bearing column is aligned to support the curved mass of the second floor without compromising the spatial quality of the first floor. This becomes a significant accent at the corner of the house, which is designed as a "standalone" or separate from the main mass but still unified.
Besides its corner strategy, this house also features a rich and balanced combination of building materials and colors. Using terracotta bricks together with textured white walls, some wooden accents, and black for emphasis, this house presents a monumental dynamic studio in the area.
