Titanic Comfort Kurfürstendamm Hotel by Designist
The Titanic Comfort Kurfürstendamm Hotel in Berlin, located on Kleiststrasse connecting to Nollendorfplatz, is within walking distance of Europe's first shopping center KaDewe. The hotel was renovated by Designist, taking into account the architectural and cultural specifics of Berlin.
Designist aimed to reflect a modern, bold, and sturdy image of the city in the design of the Titanic Comfort Kurfürstendamm Hotel Berlin. The common spaces of the building near Berlin's historical center were completely re-designed and renovated, and some furniture in the rooms was rethought. The goal was to create an eclectic atmosphere by combining retro and modern styles reflecting Berlin. In the lobby, a small registration hub, there is a welcome desk, a relaxation area with a fireplace and a snack bar where hotel guests can enjoy light refreshments.

A more modern and powerful welcome desk was designed using onyx marble, becoming a symbol of the Titanic hotel, reinterpreted by combining it with wood. Soft smoky wood is used for the back wall of the desk, creating a warm impression for visitors. Office doors and luggage rooms are hidden in walls made of the same material, while other doors are upholstered with leather and panelled. The bar was specifically designed for the hotel as furniture speaking the same language as the reception desk. All permanent furniture elements in public areas were manufactured by Addo Furniture.
Elegant 'Ocean Blue' porcelain tiles from Italian brand Apavisa are used on the floor. Wood-like ceramics were used in the relaxation area to make the space comfortable and cozy. Green wallpapers from Arte Wallpapers called 'Facet' and various rows of bricks were applied on the wall with a fireplace. The brick wall is enlivened by cubist artworks reflecting Berlin. A warm relaxation corner was created using original furniture elements from Adasan Furniture. Lighting by Dr.Light brand achieves the desired retro atmosphere in the space.

To create the hall's image in the winter garden/bar accessible through a leather door of the lobby, Apavisa porcelain 'Ocean Blue' and patterned terrazzo ceramics are used. The glass bar, attracting attention with its grand view and functioning as a showcase, was specially developed for this project. A bronze wine rack is installed above the bar, and a rotating wine rack above the counter. The bar wall is made of green ceramic from Gorbon brand, while the opposite wall above the sofa is decorated with botanical wallpapers from Arte. A black metal roof adds depth to the space and creates a structure around which plants can be placed. Seats made of rafan, leather and old bronze were also selected from Adasan Furniture.
The restaurant creates a heavy atmosphere that can be used both during the day and at night with the bar. To update the low-ceiling restaurant, a smoky mirrored surface was applied on the wall facing the winter garden. Under this wall, which is enlivened by wall lights, a wooden surface made of black marble, olive green and velvet cedar fabric was designed. A sculptural, shaped bronze detail made of metal was placed in the middle. The Mondrian smoky wood on the wall dividing the restaurant into two parts enhances the transition between both sections and also references the lobby. In the second zone where the breakfast bar is located, a high dance sofa area with leather and neutral tables with turned legs, specially made for this place, was designed. The products from Kütahya Seramik were selected for the floor and applied with various sizes.

The room floors were enlivened with wall colors and furniture using the existing natural stone on the floor. A warm atmosphere is achieved in the elevator lobby through wall cladding with natural oak and Candaş Perde brand blinds. A dark blue carpet path was used in the corridors of the rooms and heated with frames containing photos of Berlin and retro lighting from Dr.Light brand.
The dynamics of Berlin are reflected in the rooms using color plays and diagonal parquet laying. The concept of black lines turning from one side to another is applied through wall stickers, continuing throughout the room with a specially produced black linear curtain. London Art wallpapers were used in a new way to define the newly re-designed countertop. In some rooms, existing headboards were repaired with added leather backs. Lighting specially made for the Dr.Light brand project and new design elements were created by processing film glass on existing nightstands.
