Hotel Titanic Comfort Kurfuerstendamm Berlin by Designist
The Hotel Titanic Comfort Kurfuerstendamm, located on Kleiststrasse and connecting to Nollendorfplatz in Berlin, is within walking distance of Europe's first shopping center KaDewe. It was renovated by Designist with influence from Berlin's architecture and culture.
Designist aimed to reflect the modern, strong and masculine essence of the city in the design of Hotel Titanic Comfort Kurfuerstendamm Berlin. The public areas of the building, located near central Berlin, were completely rethought and renovated, with some furniture elements in rooms being repurposed. The goal was to create an eclectic atmosphere by combining retro and modern styles reflecting Berlin. In the lobby, which is a small check-in hall, there will be a welcome desk, a relaxation zone with a fireplace and a bar area for snacks where hotel guests can get refreshments.

A more modern and powerful welcome desk was designed using onyx marble, which became the hotel's symbol in a new context by combining it with wood. A soft coating of smoked wood was applied behind the welcome desk, creating a warm impression for visitors. Office doors and luggage rooms are hidden in the same material wall; other doors are covered with leather and feature a hatch. The bar area was specially designed as furniture speaking the same language as the reception desk. All fixed furniture elements in public areas were produced by 'Addo Furniture'.
Ceramic 'Ocean Blue' from the Italian brand ‘Apavisa’ was used on the floor. In the relaxation zone, wood-like ceramic was applied to make the space more comfortable and add warmth. On the wall with fireplace, green wallpapers 'Facet' from brand ‘Arte Wallpapers’ and rows of bricks were used. The brick wall was enlivened with cubist sculptures reflecting Berlin. A warm relaxation zone was created using original furniture elements from company ‘Adasan Furniture’. Lighting by brand ‘Dr.Light’ enhances the desired retro atmosphere.

For showcasing the lobby in the winter garden/bar accessible through a leather door in the lobby, ceramic 'Ocean Blue' from brand ‘Apavisa’ and terrazzo-printed ceramic were used. The glass bar, attracting attention with its expressive design and serving as a showcase, was specially developed for this project. A bronze wine counter is placed above the bar and a rotating wine rack above the counter. The bar wall was made of urban-green ceramic from brand ‘Gorbon’, and on the opposite wall above the sofa, 'Arte' botanical pattern wallpapers were applied. With a black metal roof added depth to the space and created structure around which plants can be wrapped. Seats were made from raffia, leather and old gold details from company ‘Adasan Furniture’.
In the restaurant a dense atmosphere is created so it can be used both during the day and evening with the bar. To refresh the low-ceilinged restaurant, a smoked mirrored surface was applied on the wall facing the winter garden. Below this wall, illuminated with backlighting, a wooden surface with black marble, pistachio green and velvet cedar wood was designed. In the center a sculptural, shaped bronze leather furniture piece was placed. The 'Mondrian' wood on the wall separating the restaurant into two parts reinforces the transition between both sections and also refers to the lobby. In another zone where the breakfast buffet is located, a high tank leather cushion was designed and neutral tables with carved legs in the buffet were specially produced for that place. Products from company ‘Kütahya Seramik’ were applied on the floor, cut in various sizes.

The floors of the rooms were enlivened with wall paints and furniture using existing natural stone on the floor. The warm atmosphere in the lift lobby is achieved through wall covering with natural oak and blinds from brand ‘Candaş Perde’. A dark blue carpet was used in the corridors of rooms and heated by frames with Berlin photos and retro lighting from ‘Dr.Light’.
The dynamism of Berlin is reflected in the rooms using color plays and diagonal parquet laying. The concept of black lines rotating from one side to another is implemented through wall stickers and continues throughout the space with a special black linear curtain. Wallpapers from brand London Art were applied in another form to define the new office desk. In some rooms, existing beds were renovated with added leather backs. Wall sconces specially produced for the project by company ‘Dr.Light’ and a new look were created through processing existing bedside tables with glass elements.
Under the leadership of Aslı Arican Dağyolu, Designist plans to successfully complete Hotel Titanic Comfort Kurfuerstendamm Berlin, the fourth Titanic hotel project in Berlin, and meet users in November.
