How to Calculate Bathroom Sink Height

Typically, the standard height of a bathroom sink is usually between 90 and 94 cm. However, it's recommended to take the average height of household members so that the sink isn't too low or high. For homes where residents' heights range from 160 to 170 cm, a sink height of 85 to 95 cm from the floor is recommended.

In homes for tall people, with heights ranging from 170 to 180 cm, the sink should be installed at about 110 cm from the floor. But if average height of residents does not exceed 160 cm, then the sink should be installed at a maximum height of 75–80 cm from the floor.

Sink Height for Children's Bathroom

What about children? It's also important to properly calculate the sink height in a child’s bathroom.

Generally, it is recommended to install a sink at 40–60 cm from the floor so that children can comfortably and safely use the basin. This height is suitable for children who are beginning to learn personal hygiene, typically around age 2.

Using faucets with adjustable bases is more preferable for easier access, but it's better to choose those that are easy to open and close since a child’s motor skills are still developing.

Integrated basins are also more recommended, as they provide greater comfort and prevent the need for a child to stand on tiptoes. Over time, it's important to adjust the sink height again so that it matches a child’s growth and development. On average, by age ten, children can comfortably and safely reach an adult-standard sink.

Children with special needs who use wheelchairs should have sinks at a height that meets the standard for wheelchair users — approximately 78 cm from the floor.
