The Stripped Möbius House is an impressive modern residence located in Ahmedabad, India. This 14,000 square foot home is truly worth attention. Created by Matharoo Associates, this house contains everything.

Located in the western suburbs of Ahmedabad, this real estate house sits on a protected plot, bordered elegantly by a villa to the east and large villas to the north and west. The design was developed to hide this undesirable context of neighboring plots, while also taking into account Vastu - strict ancient rules governing the form and placement of spaces, water bodies, and courtyards, down to the orientation of drains and color selection.
The composition consists of a simple structure made up of two parallel, double-story rectangular blocks oriented along the North-South axis. The eastern block serves as a guest wing with public functions including entrance, formal hall, living room and kitchen, while the western block includes private functions such as the owner's bedroom, parents' room and children's rooms. The space between the two blocks is designed for family living, dining area, temple and a large shaded veranda facing gardens to the north and south.

The regularity of these brown sandstone boxes is interrupted by a curved wall in plain concrete that runs along all three axes. It starts at the entrance and loops around the kitchen, forming an external service area before curving toward the dining room, accommodating a relaxation zone and temple along the way.
The intersection also rises from the veranda to encompass the living room on the upper level and becomes a floating curved slab suspended above the central volume. The epithet of these embryonic interiors is found in the basement, where solid curves are realized through light from above and reflected via transparent glass surfaces, creating a deep contrast.
This play of what seems like an endless cycle of flowing surfaces in plain concrete imitates the Möbius strip and modulates space in such a way that it is both inside and outside, bounded yet spilled, tall and intimate.
