JOLO House by AZ85 Studio in Ninh Thuan
JOLO is located in Phan Rang - Ninh Thuan, a region with a tropical monsoon climate and hot, dry, windy weather. The average annual temperature ranges from 26 to 27 degrees Celsius. Therefore, this region is considered a valuable desert area in Vietnam with clear blue skies, bright sunshine, and minimal rainfall per year. Thus, the owner wants to have a comfortable and relaxing living space that can serve as an excellent resort while simultaneously residing in Saigon or Phan Rang, and also when using the hospitality model.
The plot is located in a quiet residential area, separate from the main road; however, its proximity to the sea and enormous tourism potential make this project an ideal resort and leisure complex for both owners and guests. The initial idea was a house surrounded by green fences and trees, creating a living space connected with nature, especially fresh sea air. The architect's goal was to create a mini-resort space that provides a relaxed lifestyle and harmonious connection between human factors and the surrounding nature. JOLO consists of absolute symmetry in the central main block and two symmetric side blocks in a fan shape. This form allows all three blocks to maximize wind and natural light from the external environment. The architecture used space on both sides to create two courtyards, enabling the building to use natural lighting while maintaining cool air circulation throughout all corners.

The villa consists of 8 bedrooms and one common relaxation area including a living room, dining room, and kitchen located in the central block. From here, paths lead to each room. Each room imitates a mini-world with its own green space and maximum comfort, along with two external staircases leading to the second floor. This creates a striking entrance and highlights the excellent symmetry of the building block. The main feature of the central block is a spiral staircase located in the center of the common relaxation area. Thus, the architect used gaps to create storage and display areas, allowing the spiral staircase not only fulfill its function but also serve as an excellent divider between the relaxation area and kitchen. At the same time, it maintains clear movement, aesthetics, and comfort in the overall design.

The architect understands that a reasonable combination of nature, comfort, and design increases the value of the building. Therefore, green zones are integrated everywhere. From the impressive entrance with two wooden doors surrounded by plants in a specific order, the main entrance leads along a small concrete path lined with bamboo rows and low shrubs, creating true connection between humans and nature. The entire block is covered with chains of daisies grown along the terrace. The green curtain together with a nearby pool limits direct sunlight in the room and allows cool air to enter.
