Classical Style Living Room Interior
One of the features and main challenge in creating a classical style living room design is its cost.
True classical style is created using expensive wood species, natural marble, precious metals, luxurious textiles, and many handmade items and antiques. The challenge is overcome with cheaper analogs of materials, yet classical living room design will still cost a good amount even in this case.

Space
Another requirement of classical style is space. Due to the grandeur, pompousness, and bulkiness of all finishes and furniture, a large living room size is necessary to implement classical style in interior design. In a small living room, only a parody of classical style will be achieved, with strong cluttering.

Color Palette
The color palette used in classical living room interiors is pastel tones. The most popular color solution is pale yellow, white colors and their shades. Wall finishing can also be soft blue or green. Gold, bronze, wood tones, rich red, blue, and green colors often appear in the finishing.

Wall Finishing
Wall finishing in classical interiors involves expensive paper or fabric wallpapers in muted tones with refined patterns, possibly with subtle floral designs.
An alternative to wallpapers is decorative stucco or wooden paneling. Another option is artistic wall painting – frescoes. These can also adorn high ceilings, always richly decorated with moldings.
Floors are laid with parquet, mosaic, or marble. Marble columns along walls or supporting arches are also common elements in classical living rooms.
Furniture
Furniture in classical living rooms is substantial and luxurious. Ideally, it should be made of valuable wood species, decorated with carving and inlaying, and upholstered with expensive fabric. Furniture fittings in bronze or gilded finishes are preferred.
Classical living rooms contain many pieces of furniture, which are large but do not crowd each other. Sofas, armchairs, side tables, possibly wardrobes and dressers are placed freely in the room. Soft furniture can be positioned near a marble or stone fireplace.

Lighting
Lighting in such a living room is provided by substantial chandeliers and wall sconces: forged, using gilded finishes, crystal or glass.

Decoration
Living room decoration is done to match the finishing and furniture. Dense, heavy drapes made of velvet, brocade, silk, large mirrors in ornate frames, paintings, sculptures, and candlesticks are carefully chosen to suit the classical style interior.

Modern classical design follows the same rules of decoration with some modifications. Materials used are less expensive, sometimes imitating natural ones. For example, instead of traditional flooring materials, laminate is used.
Modern appliances are hidden within classical furniture, and lighting near forged chandeliers can be provided by recessed lights. Classical decor can also be made at home using various techniques.
