Before starting a major sorting process, you need to prepare a battle plan.

What order to follow? There are several approaches: some people (including Marie Kondo) prefer sorting by categories of items (all clothes, all books, all bedding, etc.), while others favor sorting by rooms. We recommend the second option. This method allows you to see results faster and can be done in small steps if you have limited time.

How to proceed? In each room, you should take everything out of wardrobes and closets to lay all items on a flat surface. You need an overview of your belongings to immediately identify excess items (do we really need 4 plates on the kitchen table?). Then, examine each item one by one to decide whether to keep or discard it.

What cleaning schedule to choose? Try to plan time intervals over several weeks for completing the project and set goals for each week. Depending on available time, you can focus on one room or one wardrobe per week.

What questions to ask? Have I used this item recently? Are there multiple identical copies? Do I like this item? Does it have emotional value? Is it useful? If you answered no to each of these questions, feel free to let go of the item without hesitation.

What to do with things you no longer need? Prepare several labeled boxes for efficient sorting: a box for giving away, a box for selling, and a box for recycling. Finally, prepare a box labeled "Waiting", where you put items you're unsure about. If at the end of the year you still haven't used these items, it's time to part ways with them.
