House Among Pines by Kvadrat Architects: Seclusion in Borovoe
Located in the picturesque resort region of Borovoe, Kazakhstan known as Kazakhstan's Switzerland, the house among pines by Kvadrat Architects offers an example of modern forest lifestyle. Designed as a cozy sanctuary for a family of six, this minimalist house combines light, form, and materials to create moments of dialogue between architecture and nature.
🏡 House for Generations
The owners conceived this house not only as a place for rest and vacation, but also as the future of a multigenerational heritage. Surrounded by ancient pines, clean lakes, and mountain contours, the house fosters connection — between family and nature.
🌗 Contrasts of Nature in Design
The architectural concept is based on the principle of natural contrast: day and night, light and darkness, wood and stone. The house is divided into two zones:
First floor: public living space, dining room and kitchen
Second floor: private bedrooms and bathrooms
A two-story hall with a height of 7 meters forms the spatial center of the house, filling the interior with sunlight and panoramic forest views. The effect of spatial expansion, emotional calmness, and visual continuity.
"It's like a contrasting bath," say architects Rustam Minnekhanov and Sergey Bekmukhambetov. "The black entrance corridor makes the living room even brighter and more majestic."
🪵 Wood and Stone: Materials of Balance
The black entrance corridor transitions into a bright, panoramic space with views of the pine forest. The materials reflect the surroundings: natural wood adds warmth and texture, while stone brings a sense of stability and cool contrast.
This conscious combination of materials speaks to harmony between opposites, a characteristic feature of Kvadrat Architects' philosophy inspired by nature.
🌱 Meditative Rural Interior
Avoiding bright colors, sharp contrasts and over-decoration, the interior emphasizes minimalism as mindfulness. Every element is calm, thoughtfully designed and durable. Furniture and finishes are chosen not only for style but also for durability and emotional value.
Here, the true decoration is the pine forest framed by windows. The house becomes a lens to admire the landscape rather than an distraction from it.
🪑 Conscious, Sustainable Living
Kvadrat Architects believe in design with purpose, minimizing excess and using high-quality, durable materials. The house among pines is a sacred space of air and light, created with uncompromising commitment to sustainability and tranquility.
